Expert Q&A

By Elizabeth M. Ward, M.S., R.D.
Nutrition Consultant

I'm breastfeeding. How can I ensure that I'm getting enough calcium without drinking milk all the time?

Calcium-fortified orange juice and soy milk are great ways to get as much calcium as found in milk. Tofu processed with calcium sulfate ranks high for calcium; green leafy vegetables help, too. Consider calcium supplements if you don't get at least three servings a day of these calcium-rich foods."
