How does breastfeeding benefit Mom?
Stimulation of the breasts causes the uterus to contract, decreasing bleeding after the birth and helping the uterus to return to its normal size. Benefits of breastfeeding include a lower incidence of breast cancer among women who have breastfed. Also, women who experience postpartum depression may experience a boost from breastfeeding, as the body releases endorphins during nursing.
