Sarah G's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

November 28, 2000

I had my midwife appointment last Wednesday, and I'm in perfect health. I gained 8 pounds (3.6 kg) in five weeks, which is very good. I was too thin. My blood pressure was 112/78, and the baby's heartrate was 150. My next appointment is on December 22, when I'll be 20 weeks.

I do have my referral for the level II ultrasound, but have yet to make the appointment. I haven't decided if I want to know the baby's gender before birth. On one hand, I would love to know now so I can plan and pick a name, and refer to the baby with the right pronoun. <grin> On the other hand, I think it would be such a grand suprise to find out at birth. I have no medical need for an ultrasound, no indications at all that anything is wrong.

But, with my son, we brought a blank tape and the sonogram was recorded. I love having that tape! It's such a great memoir! So I think I will do the ultrasound and have them record it (they already said they would) and just not watch the tape if I want to wait to learn the gender. That way, I will not be missing the ultrasound because I'll have it on tape, and can watch it over and over again in years to come. :)

I am feeling very pregnant lately. I waddle. <laugh> I'm eating all the time, and it feels great. I can feel the baby swimming around, and that just thrills me. I can't feel it on the outside yet, though.

Jake apparently hasn't noticed Mommy's big belly. He still bounces on me like always, despite my grunts and groans and requests to be soft. He's a big boy! He does think my belly button is funny, sticking out the way it does. <grin>

My toddler is in a much better mood, seemingly back to his old self. His vocabulary is exploding, and he's putting together words. It's wonderful! My favorite has to be his way of putting the word 'no' in front of things. For example: While outside, he'll point to the sky, shake his head mournfully, and say "No rain." And if something is off, he'll say "No on." :) If it's cold, it's "No hot." I love this age!

He is still nursing three or four times a day, even though it seems as if I have a very low supply of milk. I guess it's enough for Jacob, because he doesn't seem to mind. :)
