Sarah G's Diary Entries

Happy Halloween! Last night, Jacob went trick-or-treating for the first time. Stone took him, while I stayed home. Walking around a lot exhausts me to no end. Jacob was dressed as a barbarian, and was adorable! They were gone for 6 hours, because they spent some time at Stone's parents' house. Jacob was, by all accounts, a dear, and didn't seem to miss me at all. He came home completely asleep, with tons of candy and food from Stone's mother. :)

On the pregnancy front, I've gained 10 inches around my waist total, and I'm one dayshort of a whole trimester! I'll be 13 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I don't know how much I weigh, since I don't have a scale, but I feel heavier. I'm very amazed at how much I'm showing this pregnancy. When I was pregnant with Jacob, I barely showed at all until I was 6 months along. But I've heard that's common the second time (or third or fourth etc.).

Jacob still nurses to go to sleep, at night and for naps. But he doesn't demand to nurse in the middle of the night anymore unless I accidentally wake him up. Around the time that he used to nurse at night, he just cuddles closer and falls asleep again. It's nice. And very helpful towards getting him to sleep in his own bed. He seems to be approaching that level of independence quite on his own, which is excellent, absolutely wonderful. It is extremely difficult for me to be tough on him about sleep. His bed is in my room and forcing him to sleep there before he's ready will seem like time-out instead of bed time. And he can just get up and climb into bed with me whenever he wants. So, his not nursing in the middle of the night is so great because it means I can put him down to sleep on his bed, and he'll sleep the night through there, right?

Or so goes the theory ... We'll see what happens when I try it. On a frivolous note, my 22nd birthday is in five days, on Monday. And I keep having dreams about birthday candles!
