Sarah G's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 20, 2000

This week has been long. I'm really suffering from "placenta brain"! This Monday, I woke up in a panic thinking it was the 25th, and I was running late for my first appointment! Zowee! I had to run out and check the calender. And I keep forgetting conversations, and what I was about to say. I'm easily confused. Everybody seems to think it's funny. <grin>

The morning sickness is a bit worse this week. The only thing that keeps it in check is SweetTarts. I munch a couple of those and no longer feel like I'm going to throw up. Yeah for candy!

Jacob has been sick. Poor little man. He's all stuffed up, and very cranky -- which makes me cranky. I'm glad we're still nursing, otherwise he'd starve. He's just not interested in eating much. If this continues much longer, I'm going to call his pediatrician. I'm not very concerned, though. He's not running a fever, or being lethargic, and I think it's just allergies. Unfortunately, there isn't an antihistamine for toddlers available over-the-counter. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

I was trying to wean Jake from his night feedings, but I think I'll put that off until he's feeling better. It's more important now that he get as much breastmilk as possible.

I've been having the greatest cravings. Like cinnamon ice cream, egg drop soup, or greasy cheeseburgers. The cool part is, whenever possible, Stone will go out and get me whatever I'm craving. He sees it as his mission or something. How lucky can a girl get?

I guess that's it for this week; it was pretty uneventful. Next week will be the important one. Monday is my very first appointment with the doctor-midwife. I hope I get to hear the heartbeat. Stone won't be able to make it, so he's loaning me his minirecorder so I can record the sound of our second child. It's all so amazing.
