This has been a long week. Jake is sleeping very little, which means he is often cranky and not having fun at all. He goes to sleep around 11:00pm, and gets up around 7:30am. Then he’s awake all day long, taking a nap around 5:00pm! Which, of course, means he is wired until eleven even though I get everybody settled into bed around 8:00pm. Argh! Logan is mellow through the whole thing, thankfully. I’d go nuts dealing with two tired-fighting kids.
Jake’s sleeping pattern also means I’m sleeping less than I’d like. (But what mother doesn’t?) I’m still waking to feed Logan several times a night, albeit briefly, and could easily and joyously sleep an extra hour in the morning.
Logan is getting so big! Early this week, my aunt and I were suddenly curious about his weight. The next checkup isn’t scheduled until the middle of July, and we don’t have a baby scale, so we weighed him rather imprecisely. She stood on the bathroom scale holding him, then handed him off to me and we subtracted the second weight. Logan weighed roughly 12 pounds at 6 weeks! Yay! And he’s very bright eyed and interactive. He laughs and coos and just ‘talks’ like you wouldn’t believe. It’s overwhelmingly adorable. He really gets a kick out of me playing patty-cake with his feet. He’ll get all excited and grins and wiggles and laughs.
I was going to get a new pair of glasses today. These frames are bent all out of shape, and are starting to break when I try to bend them back. They are forever sliding down my nose, driving me insane, and I think my prescription has changed. Medicaid will pay for an eye exam and one pair of glasses for people over 21 every two years. The catch is, I can’t find a doctor who accepts Medicaid. Especially one open on Saturday, when I wouldn’t have to take both boys with me. (sigh) I was really looking forward to having something new.
Breastfeeding is fabulous. Logan is easy to nurse and Jake is becoming less demanding. Both boys are still nursing, of course, and we are all still cosleeping. I heartily recommend tandem nursing, if you get a chance. It makes my life easier and vastly more pleasant. (grin)
Oh! And today is my sister Rachael’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Rach! For her birthday, her boyfriend gave her an engagement ring and she accepted! They haven’t yet set a date, but everyone is rather giddy about the whole thing. Congratulations Rachael and David!
