Hola everyone! Today I am 36 weeks and 4 days pregnant, and feeling very big. On Monday the 9th, four days after my last entry, I had another check up. I had gained 3 pounds! My blood pressure was 110/62 and I felt great, so no one was concerned about the gain. I delivered Jacob at 165 pounds, and I’m probably at that weight today, a week later.
Jake behaved himself pretty well at that appointment, mostly because I managed to get him to nap before we left and I brought peanut butter sandwiches and raisins. Afterwards, instead of making my next appointment, I made the next five appointments. The first of which is this Wednesday.
And on Friday, I have an appointment at my local WIC office. I’m looking forward to getting food coupons. I won’t be using the coupons for eggs very often though, seeing as how we raise chickens.
The garden is coming along really well. We have sprouts of tomatoes, beans, carrots, peas, cantaloupe, squash, strawberries, blackberries, and herbs. We’re also about to plant a section of corn. This is my favorite time of year.
Jake is certainly enjoying the time outside. I slather him up in sunscreen, and let him run around barefoot. He and I both scorn shoes and avoid them when possible. Unfortunately, more outside time means more encounters with fire ants. Poor Jake has bites all over his feet, which sometimes turn into little blisters that he scratches open. And then he will not leave them alone! He has two rather awful looking wounds on his right foot where he is continuously scratching open the scab. I put an antihistamine cream on the bites when they first happen to keep the itch down in the hopes Jake won’t scratch at all. When that fails, and he opens it, I put an antibiotic ointment on to keep it from getting infected, and then put a band-aid on it. Which he promptly peels off, telling me it’s yucky, and throws it away. Then he picks at the owie some more, sometimes causing it to bleed. (sigh) I even bought really nifty Blue’s Clues band-aids, but Jake still won’t wear one for very long. Oh well, at least he’s a quick healer.
