Sarah G's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 9, 2001

I am huge. <grin> I am extraordinarily pregnant. I feel like I'm nine months along, when I'm a couple days shy of 23 weeks. Jacob's birthday is on Sunday, and he doesn't seem to care. I don't think he understands, but I don't spend a great deal of time trying to explain it to him. He's beginning to look more and more like a 2-year-old to me, probably because he's getting taller and is going through a language explosion.

He says so many things. :) I can have a conversation with him, of sorts. He still has a hard time telling me what he wants if he's frustrated, which just leads to more frustration. He has his 2 year well baby checkup on Monday, and it'll be the first time he's seen the pediatrician since he was 18 months old. I wonder what the doctor will say about him still breastfeeding, and about my pregnancy. At any rate, I'll be able to share his stats next week, and we can see how my little man has grown!

We need to buy Jake a new pair of shoes. His feet are so big! He is wearing a size 8 shoe, and that's too small. Zowee. And I need to get him to a dentist. He grinds his teeth when he eats, and I can't imagine that is an OK thing. Then again, I can't think of what a dentist could do about it. I do want to know if any damage is being done. And I want to take him to get his eyes checked. I haven't noticed anything wrong, but I wear very strong glasses, and so does Jake's father. My little sister is the only one in my family with good vision, so I'm hoping Jacob has that chance.

People say that kids tend to wean themselves when mother's milk becomes colostrum around 5 months, but Jake hasn't seemed to notice. I was a bit worried that he might wean, but not anymore. :) He still nurses for his nap, most of the time, and at night. And that's enough for me.
