He sleeps! What a day, what a week. DH and I have been passing this cold back and forth for a month and luckily Rylan had not gotten it. Of course, as soon as I brought that small detail up, he started getting fussy and hasn't been able to sleep since. Now he has a runny nose, but he's SLEEPING!!!
He actually has been out now for over an hour and I have been able to finish my (online) Christmas shopping. Well, not totally finished, I still have two dogs to buy presents for. Oh yes, and one special gift for Rylan, that I cannot seem to find anywhere ... it's called a Skwish. In order for me to get it before Christmas, a store needs to have it in stock, right? Well, no one does, so I guess we're out of luck.
But through it all Rylan is still nursing like a champ. People are often shocked when I tell them he eats more at night than during the day. No, he's not sleeping through the night yet ... and so what??? He will when he does. I've learned to just tell people he does sleep all night, just so that I don't have to listen to their "cry it out" or "give him cereal" advice. Unlike most people who co-sleep, he does wake me up when he eats. It's just that I'm so small-chested and when he wants the other side, he lets me know. I have to either move him to the other side, or just flop over him. DH sleeps through it all, though. Lucky him :)
I am really starting to think Rylan is a genius. Last weekend I decorated for Christmas while he and DH went shopping. We have a cathedral ceiling in our living room and I decided to put a wreath up near the top way above the fireplace. Wouldn't you know Rylan noticed it? He also LOVES the tree, which we decided to put on a table up out of his reach. That doesn't keep him from trying, though. He also realizes that when I take something from him, it doesn't just "go away" and he looks for it.
Well, Rylan’s marathon nap has sadly come to a close.
Until next time,
Rebecca
