August 30, 2000
Not much has changed this week. Everything is still going well. Bart is gaining weight and Sebby is still nursing during the day, but not as often. I am getting the feeling that my mother is not very comfortable with the tandem nursing situation. She was babysitting him last night and she said to me today (with a horrified look on her face) that Sebby had asked her for Mommy's "boo boo." Oh well, I was not breastfed as a baby (I guess that is the case for many 70s babies) and she probably just can't understand.
On the other side of the coin, I told a neighbour of mine that I was still BF Sebby during a conversation about BF that we were having. She didn't respond at all and I thought she disapproved. However, the next day she told me that she too intends to nurse her 8-month-old until about the age of 3 and that she wanted to ask my advice about it. I suppose many people who tandem nurse or nurse older children are "closet nursers" and she was probaby just surprised that I openly told her so.
Until next week,
Ketherine
