Bartholomew will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. He has already gained 9 ounces! The doctor was shocked that he already weighs 9 pounds, 3 ounces. I was really happy to hear that. He is nursing like a pro. He nurses about every three hours and at night he sometimes sleeps for four or five hours at a time. I was a little worried about that, but since he is gaining weight I'm sure it's OK.
My breasts are no longer engorged. If they do become full, Sebastian will happily nurse to empty them. I think he really likes all the milk. I have read that some toddlers wean themselves at this time because they DON'T like all the milk. I guess he just does not fall into that category!
Sebby is a great big brother and is so proud of Bart. He helps me to change him and wash him. He really surprised me this morning when Bart started crying and he said, "Mommy, nurse Bart. Bart hungry." I am so relieved that he understands that Bart needs to nurse to eat. Even though he is only two, he is very perceptive about this new situation and is trying to learn as much as possible. He has not really shown any signs of jealousy ... yet.
Yawn! I really need some sleep. Both boys fell asleep fairly easily tonight and now it's my turn.
Until next time,
Ketherine
