Ketherine's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 12, 2000

Here's to another stressful week.

It seems as if the potty training is going to be put on hold for now. DS seems interested some days and other days he won't even sit on the potty. I don't want to push him into it, so I guess I will just have to wait and see.

I have some good news to share! I got to hear my baby's heartbeat for the first time yesterday! I was so happy and excited. Actually, I was starting to get a little anxious over the baby's condition because I am 13 weeks and I had not heard the HB or had an ultrasound yet. I belong to an expecting club for women due in July 2000 and many of the friends that I had made have had miscarriages. This seemed to compound my fears even more. At least now I know that the baby is doing fine.

As for my itchy/sore nipple situation, it still exists. However, now the itchiness is worse than the soreness. I have tried creams and talc, but to no avail. DS especially hates the talc and refuses to nurse if I have used it. I am desperate! Perhaps somebody out there knows of an itchiness cure for BF moms. Help!

I have started a new course this week too: Introduction to Social Work. Last semester I took two courses. Between FT work, taking care of a toddler and being pregnant it was really hard so I decided to try one course this semester. I am so excited about studying again! It seems as if school is the one thing that I have right now that is solely for me. It is almost as if it is part of my identity now. DH cannot understand because he says that school just creates more stress. But for me, it is relaxing. I love starting a new subject and exploring ideas and concepts that I have never studied before. I would have to say that working on this degree has made my life richer and I am a better wife and mother because of it. (By the way, I am a college graduate already -- just in case anyone was wondering.)

I am having an ultrasound next week so I will let everyone know how it went. As well, DS is having an EKG done because his doctor detected a heart murmur. I will update everyone on this as soon as I know the results. Thanks to everyone who has started reading my diary!
