Heather's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

June 22, 2001

My baby is growing up! He turned 9 months old yesterday and I just can't believe it. He is becoming such a little person with his own personality. How time flies!
This was just my second week of working outside of the home. It has gone very well especially because my husband has quit his job to stay home with him. Their relationship is growing everyday. My husband brings him to the hospital when I have lunch so that I can feed him.
I am surprised (and a little dismayed) at how well Gavin has done without his "all you can eat buffet" at his service. I was worried that he wouldn't be able to make it to lunch when I can feed him. A couple of days ago, my husband felt they didn't even need to come to lunch to eat. I was sure that my baby would be tearfully awaiting my arrival at home. Wrong. Gavin was happily playing on the floor. What happened to my baby that needed me so desperatly every two hours or so. Because Gavin does not take a bottle, we have been so closely attached for his entire life. Now I am faced with the possibility that my dear son can go 8 hours without me. In a way this gives me much more freedom, yet I feel saddened. How will it be someday when he does not want or need to nurse at all?
I do love being able to connect with him so deeply as soon as I come home from work. It helps me relax and I love to cuddle with him. It makes being a working mom that much easier. Even though I am away---I am not forgotten!
