Dawn's Diary Entries

February 9, 2000

Wow -- what a week! I can not believe the difference one day can make in a baby. Trey has been soooo much fun this week. He is still very easily distracted when nursing if I am not in a quiet room. His older sister is the biggest distraction for him it seems. I have to tell you, he REALLY loves his sister! I have one wall dedicated to photos of family members and friends in my house. If I walk up to any picture of Caitlin while I am holding him -- he gets so excited. It is unbearably cute!

Trey has discovered his feet this week. More to the point, he has figured out that he can stick his toes in his mouth. This is his new game. Normally he chews his fists like there is no tomorrow. TEETHING. Now it seems like he would much rather have his feet! Either of these two choices is fine with me as long as he is not biting down on me while he is nursing. This has also become a problem for us. If anyone has any suggestions in the biting while nursing area please feel free to share. It hurts bad enough now, I can not imagine this with teeth!!!! *HELP* He has also started arching his back and throwing himself backwards when he feels he is done eating. Not really a big deal unless he stays attached.

I have to admit that the biggest "milestone" happened today. David, my husband, says it was an accident but I think that my son is just the most talented baby I know right now. Trey rolled over today all by himself. Finally. I swear I was starting to get concerned about his complete lack of interest. David says that I fret too much. Probably true.

Like I said before, things have been sorta challenging in breastfeeding this week. I am hanging tough, though. Trey is a very "hearty" eater and obviously doesn't miss a meal. Bye for now -- will talk more next week!
