I'm back from a very long road trip... nine hours each way!! Sidney went with me, my mom and my grandma. We attended the funeral of my great-grandma Margaret (Sidney's great-great grandma). We also got to visit a little family while we were back in Iowa. We have a family reunion coming up in July, so we'll be making the trip yet again, but this time hubby will be going!
I do have to share a story about what happened at a rest stop in Nebraska on our way home. I was in the restroom and Sidney was outside with my mom and grandma running around. Well, a bird got her!! Pooped all over her hair, it was so sick!! I had to stick her head under the faucet to scrub it out, there was sooo much of it too...ewwwww!!
We got the results of Sidney's blood and stool samples back. All is well thank goodness!! The gastroenterologist is going with the idea that she is dealing with a secondary lactose intolerance, which hopefully she'll outgrow between 18-24 months. I hope so too, I hate having to keep ice cream away from her, it just doesn't seem fair to a child. She's still dealing with diarrhea, so I guess maybe that will go once she outgrows this. Who knows at this point.
Nursing is getting back on track. There never seemed time while we were on the road. She did sleep with me, so I was able to nurse her in the a.m. and p.m., just not in between. We're doing a little extra to catch up for now. The pregnancy is going okay. I've been so icky feeling, especially in the car, that was the worst! But today I'm not feeling too bad, so maybe things are looking up! I don't have my first OB appointment until June 5 -- I'll be in my 12th week almost. But I decided to change doctors and go with an OB rather then my family doctor.
My family doctor is a great guy, but I just don't have the trust that I should with him delivering me again. There are just too many things he's overlooked and I don't want to pay for it some day. This new doctor is right in the hospital where I want to deliver, and she's been around for a while. I just wish I could have gotten in sooner.
Well, I'm about ready for lunch and Sidney should be waking up soon. I'm going to run until next week. HUGS and happy nursing!!!
