Chanda's Diary Entries

February 29, 2000

Well, this week has been pretty busy around here. To start things off, I made it through my first AF. It wasn't too bad, pretty normal for me. I did have a little problem with tampons though, I felt like a school girl again, all thumbs. But I survived and now hubby and I have been talking about our second. We've been talking about it since this summer, but with no AF, it was just that, talk. Now we can start getting a little more serious. If I did conceive this month, the baby would be due in November, which wouldn't be the first choice of months, but I guess at this point, I really can't be choosey. So, we'll just wait and see what happens. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though, I have some serious baby-fever again!!

Sidney hasn't has such a good week. I can say, she has been a pretty healthy little girl, a few sniffles here and there, but so far we've avoided any serious colds this season. Well, I spoke too soon, she has had a pretty bad cough for about 10 days now. It's mostly congestion and the doctor said it was just the draining that was causing problems, so I got some cough syrup from him and have just been riding it out. My friend Liz, from the January board, called and gave me some suggestions, which have been helping. The hot steam, saline drops in the nose and then of course using the syringe bulb on her nose to get all the snot out, and you couldn't imagine how much snot this child has. I am lucky she doesn't mind the drops and syringe at all, some kids will really fight that one. But we're all hanging in there.

Her sleeping isn't too bad, she's doing some tossing and turning, but we really have only had one bad night the past 10 days. Now, her eating is another story. I'm having quite the time trying to get food into this kid. Sidney normally has two jars of stage 2 Gerber for each meal, but doesn't want anything to do with anything at this point. She is still nursing, almost to the point where I'm getting a little engorged again. So thank-goodness she's getting something nutritious in her tummy!! I've tried taking others advice and letting her feed herself more adult food, but she just isn't interested. At the appointment last Thursday, she only weighed 19.7 and that was with all her clothes on, so I was getting a little worried about her weight. All the moms out there have tried to assure me she's OK though, so I'm just taking it one day at a time.

So far today I've offered her a waffle, a cereal bar, some banana slices and some juice (for breakfast), she drank the juice and threw everything else. We'll see what happens at lunch, I'm sure a lot of the same though. The doctor told me just to keep an eye on her, which I've been doing, I just hope she gets her appetite back soon.

Well, I think that's about all the excitement we've had this week. Oh, hubby decided to go back to selling cars full time. It's a long story, but he used to sell cars and wasn't doing so well, so he got a job at Norwest with my mom. His boss from the dealership called and offered him a pretty good deal and now he wants to go back. I don't care what he does, whatever will bring in some good money. So tomorrow he's back selling Chevy's and I'm still unemployed. I think I may run over to the county building and look into getting a license to watch a few kids during the day at home, I think with my hubby's crazy schedule that's going to be my only option (if I want to keep Sidney out of child care myself). I used to work in a preschool, so I know what it will take for it to work. I figure if I can just get two kids then I can make enough to pay our rent at the end of the month, that's not too bad. But I'll let you all know how it goes, I knock on wood every chance I get these days!!! HUGS and have a nice week :)
