Chanda's Diary Entries

February 6, 2000

Well, it's the week of February 6th. I'm at work right now; that's when I get all the good computer time. I work at a nurse advice line. Insurance companies hire us as a service for their members -- some of you may have even called us. But all I do is take incoming calls and then either help the caller myself or transfer them to a nurse if they're having symptoms. It's the easiest job in the world. I sit at a cubie, and back when I was pumping, I pumped at my cubie too. It was quite the site to see me behind my blanket (I hung it up so no one could peek in at me!) but those days are behind me. I do hope to be a SAHM someday, probably after our next baby, but for the time being, I may be job hunting. As much as I love my job, I don't like my new boss. Plus, since we moved, I now have to drive 40 minutes each way. So this week is going to be dedicated to finding a job closer to home. It's harder then it looks though; I can only work in the evenings. I don't want to take Sidney to daycare, so I work around my husband. Then I have my mom if I get into a jam, she only lives 3 blocks away. So we'll see what happens this week, keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Sidney is doing well this week. We had just recently started her on cow's milk, then to a lactose free milk, so she's sleeping through the night again. She was having terrible tummy pains and would wake screaming up every hour during the night, so that's when I found the lactose free milk. But things are so much better. She does wake about 6:00 a.m. every morning, but it's just to nurse and then roll over back to sleep. She still sleeps in our bed. I love having her there as well as the convenience for the middle-of-the-night nursings.

I get to see my neurologist on Tuesday; she'll start running some tests on me soon. Like an MRI, nerve study, and sleep study. Hopefully we'll get some answers soon.

In our breastfeeding world, right now has been going really well. Sidney is nursing about 3 times during the day, and once during the night. She loves to "snack" on breastmilk too. She'll be playing, come over for a snack, and then continue on her way. My family doesn't say much about me breastfeeding still. I do get asked occasionally, "So how long are you planning on doing that?" but I just tell them until she's ready to wean! Even friends of mine comment on me still nursing. I know at this age it starts to become an issue (just like the bottle or pacifier issue with other moms), but I try and just ignore their statements. I know they don't mean to do it on purpose, they just don't think before they speak! Anyway, she's MY daughter and we'll do what we want, when we want!!!

Other then that, things are good. We're expecting snow soon, yuck!! So maybe I'll be snowed in and unable to get to work a few times this week!! HUGS to everyone and have a great week.
