Carmajo's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

December 9, 2002

I can't believe Christmas is just 16 days away. I can remember dreaming about our first Christmas with Adrianna last year while my tummy was just starting to really pop out. Well the last 9 months have flown by and here we are.

***Christmas & 9 month pictures***

To save money, I combined her 9 month pictures and Christmas pictures. I was very pleased with the pictures. She wore her red velour dress with black fur trim, black tights and black patent leather shoes.
I also managed to get her up into a "bam-bam" pigtail on top of her head. She managed to smile for 6 shots before wanting to doze off into lala land. If anyone is interested I posted 2 of her pictures to her babiesonline.com website. I will post the link at the end of my entry.

***And she is off and moving upward***

Adrianna has mastered not only the dragging crawl but is doing the real crawl now.
She is also pulling herself up on anything and everything. I went from having dog nose prints everywhere to baby hand prints on every peice of glass possible. I sat in my favorite rocker chair just staring at her beautiful small hand print on the glass door to the entertainment stand. That was definitely a moment that made me realize that "yes I am a parent now!"

***Under the weather with a terrible cold***

Last night had to be the worst night ever. Adrianna was up ALL night long fussing and crying because of the congestion from her cold. It is so weird how a viral cold can just sneak up and start a full force attack on such a precious little girl. A little story to go with it....
Yesterday was my nephew Alex's 4th Birthday Party. My sister called early in the morning to tell us Alex was starting to get a cold so we would have the choice of not exposing Adrianna to those germs. I talked with Rob and we decided to go but to keep Adrianna from exchanging any spit or kisses with Alex. It could not have been an 1/2 hour later and Adrianna's nose starting running the Boston Marathon. It was like her body heard my sister tell me about Alex's cold and just figured well I might as well visit little Adrianna early.
With 5 ear infections in the past 7 months, I called for an appointment early this morning to have her ears checked (just in case.) With the grace of God, both ears are clear. It really surprised me because she was digging at her ears all night long while crying and snuggling with Mommy.
My DH and Adrianna's wonderful Daddy called in sick to work today so I could get some rest from the "all-nighter" we pulled last night.

***Christmas Season***

I still have not gotten our tree up yet. I started decorating the house last weekend.
It is very funny because I only used 1/2 of the normal decorations I usually put out to Adrianna-proof the house. I am hoping to assemble our tree tomorrow and get it decorated before Rob goes back to school Thursday.
My shopping is a whole other story. I started out strong and early but am really slacking. I just want to stay home in my warm suggly house and play with Adrianna.
I will end up ordering the rest online and paying the extra shipping. I hate crowds so I am not much of a bargin shopper.

***Starting to wean Adrianna***

Rob and I both agreed it was time to begin weaning Adrianna. We plan to start TTC this coming summer and with the complications of Adrianna's pregnancy I just don't think my body could handle pregnancy and breastfeeding. We had an amazing 9 months of nursing. I am by no means going to stop abruptly. I am starting by cutting out 1 nursing session and replacing it with formula. I think I will go from there and see how she does.
Adrianna gets so excited when she sees a bottle. She loves to give herself a bottle. It is so sad for me but we still share a lot of snuggling time.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Hugs,

Carmajo & Adrianna
