Carmajo's Diary Entries

January 19, 2003

wean Adrianna. We started the weaning process back in December but it was brought to abrupt halt when Adrianna got that nasty, nasty stomach virus. I emphasize on the nasty part because it was the worst illness I have ever encountered in my 31 years of life. I did not feel I could make her try a new thing (formula) when she was feeling so bad. Well right after the stomach virus left our house (1 week later and it infected all of us) then Adrianna got another nasty cold along with yes another ear infection. We also learned after the doctor examined her mouth and throat that she was cutting 8 teeth including her baby molars. Adrianna has been battling a cold with a harsh cough and constant runny nose ever since. I have tried everything for her teeth. I ordered the Hyland teething tablets but those seem to do the opposite for her. I was really surprised because I have heard many good things about them. I plan to try them again once she is done taking the decongestant. We have been rotating tylenol and motrin which has been helping tremendiously with her fussiness.
So in the weaning process all we have acomplished is getting her to like drinking formula. She nurses 3-4 times a day and takes 2 formula bottles. We will take it slowly and see how she does teething.

Sadness at the Burghart house....
It has been one week since my other "babies" went to their new home.
Our boxers, Madison & Ace are with a new family. We came to the conclusion the dog hair and dander was bothering Adrianna. In October, Adrianna and I went with Rob on a business trip to California and Adrianna did not have a runny nose, cough and barely sneezed the whole time. I know it could have been the climate change from Ohio to California but there were other deciding factors. The dogs were both at least 65 pounds and full of energy. The week before they left, Ace ran right over top of Adrianna. He did not do it on purpose but he still could have hurt her. It was really hard considering I had the dogs 5 years but we have to think of what is best for Adrianna. The good part is they went to a family who lives on a 90 acre farm only 20 minutes from our house. The family is really nice and told us we could visit the dogs. We plan to give it two weeks and pop in to see them.
My house seems so different without those dogs. I always complained when they would scratch the hardwood floors or tear something up but now those are memories. It all seem awful at the time but now I miss them so much.

Adrianna developments....
She is walking around holding on to furniture still. She will occasionally let go and fall towards us. She is not showing any real interest in walking yet. I am not going to push it but we do practice walking from Mommy to Daddy.
Adrianna has developed a major "French temper." French is my maiden name and her temper comes honestly from her Mommy. She will scream with frightening face and shake her arms with her fists all rolled up. I try to ignore her so she will not think she is getting attention and keep doing it but it is hard. She will also throw herself forward on the ground face first. She learned quickly not to do it on the hardwood floors.
Adrianna still only has her two bottom front teeth despite the fact she has been fighting 8 that are ready to break through.
Adrianna now crawls at lightening speed. I guess she is in a hurry to get around. It is funny trying to keep up with her.

A BIG congratulations to Jerri Ann & Wayne upon the arrival of Walker! Jerri Ann is a pregnancy.com diary writer.

Keep warm!
