It's so hard to believe it's been an entire week since Sam came home from the hospital! I still feel like I can't relax, though. It was such a roller coaster thinking he was better, only to watch him get worse again. In any case, thank God he is better now! I have a newfound empathy for other parents who have gone through this!
Since he has been feeling better he has been nursing like CRAZY! I'm barely exaggerating when I say that he nurses all night long in his sleep. He developed thrush (in his mouth) in the hospital, and I used the cream for a while to make sure I didn't develop it too. My nipples are so sore right now, but I think it's because he is nursing so aggressively now. If it doesn't ease up in a couple days, I may have to call my doctor. It's difficult to tolerate a whole lot of pain in that area!
Before Sam was sick, he was such a picky eater. He barely ate solids at all. Now he is trying everything.
Another thing that has changed is his temperament. He's more impatient than before, and seems to know how to purposefully act "bad" when he is unhappy with things. Perhaps he was going to go through this stage of development now anyway. We're just so happy that he's feeling better, we're probably being too permissive and allowing too much of this behavior. I'm way too tired to think any harder about this right now anyway...
Now that things have settled down a little, Kenny and I really need to spend some time on our marriage. We haven't had a "date" in MONTHS! It's been over a year since we went to a movie even. The problem is, when we are away from Sam longer than a few minutes, we miss him terribly! He means the world to us. And I have to say it again -- thank God he is better.
