Amy's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 12, 2001

I has been so long since my last entry, I just wanted to get SOMETHING written down... although I don't have the time to write the entry I had promised (explaining how Dr. Brazzleton upset me so...).

BUT, I do need to tell about some of the amazing things Sam has been doing.

First, he has “peed in the pot” twice the past week! We really haven’t worked with him on this. When I was changing him into his pajamas, I asked him if he wanted to sit on the pot for a while and try to pee, and he said yes. Wonders of all wonders, he actually peed. It was like hitting the lottery - I really didn’t expect anything to happen! :-)

For a while, he just sat there, and nothing was happening. He kept sighing and looking down at his penis, and finally said, “Mommy, this penis have a no pee!” I almost fell over from laughing to hard. But then he did it. I was so proud of him.

I’m working an hour away from home now, so Sam can’t nurse on my lunch hour like he has since he was born. I was really having problems with my milk supply during the first couple weeks, but it seems to be okay right now. Once when he was nursing last week, he was getting really frustrated, and he looked at me and said, “Mommy, this boob have a no ah-em [milk]!” I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I hated that he wanted more than I was making, but his expressions are so cute it was humorous.

Kenny and I are divorcing. We’ve been getting along well throughout the process. It can’t be perfect, but I think we’re both satisfied with the arrangements we’ve made. We’ll be sharing Sam almost perfectly 50/50. The custody schedule won’t be much different for Sam than he experiences now, since I work outside of the home and Kenny doesn’t. Kenny will have Sam during the day, I will have him during the evening and night time and we’ll split the weekend.

I’m confident that Kenny is going to allow Sam to be with me when he requests to be with me, and will make an effort to ensure that Sam will only have to wean from breastfeeding when Sam WANTS to wean.

Over this past weekend, I made a recording of Sam singing a bunch of different songs. It turned out so sweet. My favorite is when he sings “Happy Holiday” - part where he says an emphatic “OOOOOO Happy Holiday….” And “may your every wish come frue….” (intentional misspelling).

I miss him so terribly.
