Abigail's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

December 21, 1999

Lena and Liberty are scooting around a lot all of the sudden! Liberty does the straight-forward army crawl pretty well. She's getting sick and tired of us putting toys out of her reach just so we can see her scoot : ). Lena takes the 'round about way to get where she wants to go. She uses a combination of backwards scooting, rolling, spinning, and forward scooting. She's not in any hurry to get anywhere. When we move a toy out of her reach, she looks at us like, "I don't like that toy enough to perform for you."

They're really starting to interact with each other. It's so much fun to watch them. They especially like to pat each other's head. They're usually pretty gentle, but sometimes they get excited and can't control the velocity of their little love pats.

Their favorite solid food is canned pumpkin. I made a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving and I had some pumpkin left over. It's the perfect consistency, so I read the label and it's pretty good for them. I fed it to them and they loved it right away. That's my favorite thing to feed them because it seems to be the only thing that doesn't constipate them. Lena still hates carrots. I think she hates the texture because I've been making them with less water to give them a little bit more texture. Liberty doesn't mind. Lena lets her mouthful just sit on her tongue. Then, she sticks her tongue in and out of her mouth until the carrots fall off. That seems to be her ultimate goal. She's pretty pleased with herself when that happens. I don't know why she just doesn't spit them out violently, but I kind of appreciate that she doesn't.

Well, I know this entry won't be up until Christmas is over, but as I'm writing this it is December 21st so I'll say Merry Christmas anyway. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I hope you have a blessed New Year.
