October 13, 2002
Lena and Liberty have decided to wean and I couldn't be happier with the way this has come about. It was very gentle and gradual and I know they are ready. They've been slowly cutting down on nursings for several months, but it has now been weeks since either of them has nursed. I, of course, have mixed emotions. On one hand, I'm happy to see that they've grown and matured so much. I'm also happy because I can tell all my family, "See? I told you they wouldn't still be nursing when they reached high school!" ; ) On the other hand, I miss my babies. But babies can't stay babies forever, and we still do plenty of cuddling and snuggling every chance we get. I hope they *never* outgrow the need for that.
So this will be my last official entry in Lena and Liberty's breastfeeding diary. Thanks to all of you who have read it over the past few years. Take care of yourselves and your little ones!
Abby
