Lena and Liberty are having so much fun this summer! Every morning they just can't wait to get outside and play on the swing set. They run to the window and look out at it and get all excited. Then they look at me and wave bye-bye. It doesn't take me long to figure out what they're after when they do that!
I have been able to go back to nursing them simultaneously. I had to take a break for a while because they just wouldn't stop picking on each other while they were supposed to be nursing. They don't really bother each other to the point of distraction anymore, however, now Liberty has a couple new tricks.
First, any time Lena takes even a two-second break from the breast, Liberty detaches from her side and moves over to nurse on Lena's side. I don't know if she thinks Lena's side has more in it or if she thinks it tastes better. It's too funny. Lena doesn't think it's very funny, though. At first she didn't know what to think. Now she doesn't waste any time -- right away she smacks Liberty in the back of the head and makes a series of high-pitched squeals that I take to mean, "Get off of my side, you big ol' pig!"
Liberty's second new trick is blowing raspberries on my belly. She is a pro! She can make the longest, loudest sound by pressing her face and blowing on my, ahem, "extra skin" (I swear it's not fat, there's just a little extra skin in my abdominal area. You know what I mean, right? ; ) Anyway, I don't know how she does it with a straight face. Lena, Bryan, and I just crack up!
Well, I think these diary entries are going to be increasingly shorter for the next several weeks. We are desperately trying to get this house finished, which means every spare moment I have is spent painting or cleaning something that hasn't been cleaned in a hundred years. Lena and Liberty's nap time is no longer a relaxing time for me. It's a time when I bust my butt trying to get all of things done that I can't do when my two little baby girls are awake. Oh well. This too shall pass ...
Have a great week!
